IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) is a major player in research and training in the fields of energy, transport and the environment. From research to industry, technological innovation is at the heart of its action.
As part of the mission of general interest entrusted by the public authorities, IFPEN focuses its efforts on:
- the contribution of solutions to societal challenges of energy and climate, promoting the transition to sustainable mobility and the emergence of an energy mix more diversified;
- the creation of wealth and jobs, by supporting French and European economic activity, and the competitiveness of associated industrial sectors.
An integral part of IFPEN, the IFP School of Engineering prepares future generations to meet these challenges.
IFPEN has proven know-how throughout the entire value chain, from basic research to innovation. Its funding is provided by both the state budget and own resources from industrial partners. These represent more than 50% of IFPEN's total budget, an almost unique configuration in France.
The goal of IFPEN's R & D programs is to remove scientific and technological barriers that lead to innovations that can be valorized by the industry.
IFPEN's basic research program aims to create a foundation of knowledge essential to the development of innovations.
The scientific expertise of IFPEN researchers is internationally recognized and regularly solicited by the public authorities, to whom they bring in lighting elements useful for decision-making in their areas of expertise.
