Portal Assembly and Quadrant

Overview

The Portal structure is of a modular design so can easily be assembled/disassembled and is road transportable. It has been designed for the purpose of loading, or unloading cables into, or from Static Cable tanks as shown in the figure below.

Portal with Powered Quadrant

The Portal tower can have a powered quadrant installed, which is fitted with 4 drive rollers, and 4 pneumatic grip wheels that are set individually by means of adjusting the lock nuts position on a threaded bar. The Portal tower is designed so that it can moved, on track-ways fitted to the deck at either side of the Static Tanks, as shown in the figure below.

Assembly

The Portal can be assembled horizontally before being lifted into the vertical (working) position, before being installed on a location on land or vessel.
Reference should be made to the Portal drawings in section 4 before proceeding with assembly.
Bolts used on all of the connecting parts are of Grade 8.8 material and M20 size.
